Barrier influence

Underground constructions can have an effect on the ground water levels in the direct vicinity of the construction. The geohydrological advisor prepares a geohydrological schematic representation based on the executed ground survey and information from various publicly accessible sources. Based on the available monitoring wells, a gradient of the groundwater is derived. The schematic representation and the gradient are incorporated in a ground water model. Based on the calculations, the influence (decrease or increase) of the ground water levels by the construction is determined.

Barrier influence is often worked out for basements and tunnels.
